U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals

Clark v. Capital Credit & Collection Servs., Inc.
(08/24/06 - No. 04-35563, 04-35795, 04-35842)
A debtor may waive the protections of 15 U.S.C.
section 1692c(c) of the Fair Debt Collection Practices
Act, which requires a debt collector to cease
communication with the debtor upon written request.
Further, for purposes of 15 U.S.C. section 1692g,
verification of a debt involves nothing more than the
debt collector confirming in writing that the amount
being demanded is what the creditor is claiming is
owed.
